What is Telefónica?

In a global environment of telecommunications integration, Movistar is the catch-all trade name of the Telefónica Group for the Spanish-speaking markets. It offers fixed telephony, mobile telephony, Internet and TV services. Launched in Spain in 1994, Movistar is currently operational in 13 countries, and has over 130 million customers. It is one of the two largest telecommunications brands in each of the markets in which it operates. The Telefónica Group, to which Movistar belongs, is the leading international operator of telecommunications worldwide (based on number of customers). It is among the top 50 companies worldwide based on stock-market capitalisation and has been recognised as a leading operator in Sustainability by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
