The transformation of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, one of the greatest shrines of world football, is one of Real Madrid’s major challenges in recent decades. It will represent a symbol of the architectural and technological modernity of the city of Madrid and one of the most attractive venues for leisure and entertainment in Europe.
One of the main features is the pitch automation system, which will enable events to be staged on days when there are no football matches. The large greenhouse below ground level accommodates the storage and lifting systems for the panels. This construction is equivalent to a 7-storey building, with a depth of 24 metres across the 132 metres of the west side and a width of 20 metres.
Its prime location, right in the centre of the Spanish capital and its financial hub, places it just a few minutes from Puerta del Sol, the airport and Atocha station and boasts direct connections to the city’s main attractions.
The Santiago Bernabéu stadium of the 21st century will be safer, more comfortable, more accessible and environmentally friendly.
